About Patrick Devine

Patrick focuses his practice on M&A and corporate securities matters, with an emphasis on early- and growth-stage technology, software, media and mobile-app companies.  He advises on start-up formation, seed and venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, pre-litigation securities disputes, IPO positioning and day-to-day corporate legal issues.  He also provides advisory services to boards of directors and executives.

Patrick enjoys getting to know his clients’ businesses and strives to provide not only high-quality and cost-conscious legal advice but also practical and pro-active business advice.  In many of the financing and M&A transactions he works on, there is an Am Law 100 law firm on one side of the table, and just Patrick on the other.  He is accustomed to such situations, being a former partner at a national law firm himself.

Patrick began his legal career as a law clerk for the Hon. Eugene Wright, circuit judge for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.  He went on to practice for eleven years in the corporate finance group at Perkins Coie LLP, including four years as a partner, representing both companies and investors in venture capital financings, underwritten public offerings and mergers and acquisitions.  Subsequent to Perkins, he worked with Focal PLLC, a boutique technology law firm, focusing primarily on sell-side M&A and investor-side venture capital financings, before founding Interlaken Law Group in 2022.  Patrick has guest lectured on securities and legal practice at the University of Washington School of Law and Seattle University School of Law, and has been featured on CorporateCounsel.net.

In his spare time, Patrick, a Seattle native, indulges in many of the clichéd pastimes of a typical Northwesterner, including climbing on Mount Rainier, skiing in the Cascades, sailing on Lake Washington, crabbing and oystering in Puget Sound, exploring the Market, and rooting for the Sounders, Seahawks, Kraken and Huskies... and occasionally the Mariners.
